Enjoy outdoor dining this summer at Kyneton’s eateries
Warmer weather is on the way, vaccination rates are rising and many of us have rescheduled catch-ups to attend. With that in mind, what better way to dine than outdoors this summer? Luckily, Kyneton has a host of outstanding eateries where you can enjoy the fresh air while you sip on a cider or latte.
Ruby Cafe on Mollison Street is a family-friendly option with an intimate sunny area out the back. There is a sand pit for the kids, ivy-draped brick walls and picnic tables with umbrellas so you can choose sunshine or shade. Across the road is Social Foundry. The front courtyard is dotted with dining sets and potted flowers – the perfect place to sit back and relax. Closer to the cafe is a teepee and play equipment to keep the kids entertained.
High Street also has its share of outdoor eateries. Duck Duck Goose and Larder incorporates a providore and homewares store with its cafe. Peruse the wares and foodie goods, and settle outside for a cocktail, wood-fired pizza or traditional breakfast. Major Tom’s is adjacent to St Paul’s Park and has a brilliant beer garden out the back. Enjoy some groovy tunes in the garden with your diner food and a delicious beer, cider or spider.
For all edibles organic, local and ethical, you can’t go past the tasty and healthy food from Home Grown on Piper. Unwind in their cosy courtyard as the kids play with the provided array of cute garden ornaments. Little Swallow Cafe has similar coffee shop fare, with dining on the street or out the back. Wander down the brick path and catch up amongst the idyllic summer haven of greenery and flowers.
Kyneton’s outdoor dining extends to its restaurants too. The historic Royal George Hotel has a stunning balcony overlooking Piper Street. This is perfect for a long lunch, coffee and pastry or a sneaky cocktail in the twilight hours. If you are walking the dog, you can stop in at the Albion Hotel, which has a dog friendly beer garden. Enjoy exquisite pub meals by the agapanthus or try some of the local ales.
Whatever you are after, whether a quick bite or a sumptuous meal, Kyneton’s celebrated local eateries have got you covered for sunlit gastronomical delights this summer.
