Karen O’Sullivan has lived in the Kyneton region for almost two decades and moved to a farm out of town just before the Black Saturday bushfires. She was a health reporter for Channel Seven for thirteen years and now runs her own media communications business called KOMS. Karen has been involved in various organisations in Kyneton, including the Kyneton District Hospital and the local racing club. She has also been the president of the Kyneton Football and Netball Club for the past seven years where all four of her boys played football. Karen was the first female president in the club’s 151 years.
Kyneton has evolved in the period Karen has lived in the area, she says. There are new shops, new families moving in and sporting clubs growing. Karen knows of Kyneton On Riverside through their sponsorship of the Football Netball Club and says ‘the vision for the development is inspiring’. She says that once the bridge is put in to connect to the development she believes that it will truly accelerate.
Karen’s favourite thing to do in Kyneton is meet her friends for stroll along the riverwalk after a boxing class and head to a local cafe for an iced coffee. She believes that Kyneton provides the best of both city and country worlds. It has a country feel, is safe and has fresh air, but it is close enough to commute to the city, which she did for many years when she worked in Melbourne.
